After the snow...Tuesday

Long live John Deere! The old snow thrower did its job once again, and it wasn't anything too easy, either. Yesterday's mix of snow, sleet, and rain made a nice mess around here. The moisture made things nice and slow-going at the end of the driveway, but ol' John huffed and puffed and won the battle!

We love the plow driver who flies by and undoes most of what we managed to open at the driveway's head after fifteen minutes of grunting and groaning. We understand that he has a job to do, but he could have lifted the blade when he reached my drive, but so it goes! Actually, the workout was good and being out in the fresh air was a good way to get this day going. So our little piece of Dekalb County here in northern Illinois is pretty calm today--just blanketed with a few inches of snow. Haven't ventured out on the streets or rural roads, but will check them out later on my journey to the grocery store.

We are beginning to get fired up for next Sunday's big championship game against the Packers. What a game it should be! The oldest and fiercest rivalry in the NFL and they're meeting in a game where the winner goes to the Superbowl! How often does that ever happen? We hadn't realized until sometime Sunday that Green Bay and the Bears have only met one other time in a playoff game--1941, one week after Pearl Harbor. Imagine that! At any rate, it will be a fun weekend, and as we get closer, we'll share some more of our thoughts on these two storied teams. But for now, GO, BEARS!
