WinterFest 2012: Summer Friends & Cold Brew...

March 10th and we're already thinking thoughts of summer, pontoon cruises, and all things good about morning coffee out on the screened-in cottage porch. Perhaps it's the constant blue skies and sun-filled days we've had to "endure" most of this winter that get our minds to thinking about late May and the ritual of "move-in weekend" up there in Michigan. Whatever it is, it's here and only gets heightened later tonight when the wife and I will be attending our second annual WinterFest at the Star Plaza/ TJ Maloney's Authentic Irish Pub in Merrillville, Indiana.

Cocktails begin around 5:30, followed by dinner...and more cocktails and intimate conversation into the evening. It will be good to see everyone and to truly get each other in the spirit and mood for another season at the cottages. There's sure to be a big turnout of other cottage "residents," driving in from various points of Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. Some have even opted to make it a weekend thing, booking a room to spend the night. We, on the other hand, will drive the hour back to our humble abode in northern Illinois.

Just thinking about the good times ahead truly makes for an even quicker disposal of the remaining winter months! I look forward to reporting in my next post about the adventure tonight. With that in mind, the clock tells me it's time to go get dressed and head out to Merrillville. Stay tuned...MLA
